And Here She Is 💝🍬💖🍭🪅
All things sweet—and a little bit naughty—baby Candy has officially joined the family at Jeninda Kennel! Mandene Rock Candy at Jeninda is settling in beautifully, getting to know the rest of the pack, and adjusting to life as an independent little doggy. Watching her grow and discover the world has already been a joy, and we’re savouring every moment of her puppyhood.
Candy has been attending puppy pre-school, but as is often the case, the humans are the ones getting the training! These early classes are a wonderful way to teach her foundational skills and manners, while also helping her interact with other dogs in a safe and structured environment. While we do have other dogs at home, it’s so important for puppies like Candy to socialise with a variety of dogs in different settings. This helps build confidence, adaptability, and an outgoing nature.
Candy has already been out and about on little adventures. She’s taken shopping trips in a pet-safe basket, making new friends along the way, and visited several dog-friendly cafes where she received endless cuddles and attention. These experiences are helping her adjust to the sights, sounds, and excitement of the outside world.
We’re proud to say that Candy is already showing off her cleverness. She’s learned her name, mastered sitting, and even knows how to drop—pretty impressive for such a young pup! Potty training is still a work in progress, with the occasional accident to clean up, but she’s making steady strides in the right direction.
But oh, her teeth! Those little fangs are sharp as knives, and our poor feet seem far too tempting as we move about the house. She’s managed to draw a drop or two of blood, but we take it all in stride—no pun intended! Puppy biting is an inescapable phase, and with time, patient repetition, and plenty of chew toys, she’ll eventually learn that humans are not for teething. Until then, we’re stocking up on slippers and extra band-aids.
To keep her little mind sharp and engaged, we’re stimulating her mental intellect with puzzle toys and puppy-safe distractions. Candy is showing a real knack for problem-solving, and it’s a delight to watch her tackle these challenges with determination.
At home, Candy is proving to be a delightful addition to the family dynamic. She plays surprisingly well with the cat and has been wonderfully gentle with our senior matriarch, Mab. Iago, on the other hand, is taking his time warming up to her antics, but with patience and encouragement, we’re confident he’ll come around soon enough.
This fluffy bundle of mischief has already stolen our hearts. Watching her playful antics, discovering her budding personality, and waiting for those adorable ears to finally “pop” is such a joy. Candy is truly the sweetest—and a little cheekiest—addition to the Jeninda family, and we can’t wait to see the amazing dog she will grow into!
