A New Arrival

A New Baby Girl We have waited for what seems an eternity for this special moment, and today, we’re thrilled to announce the arrival of a beautiful litter of puppies. After much anticipation, Mandene Kennel welcomed 7 healthy little babies into the world – 5 boys and 2 girls born. Each one is doing wonderfully, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this moment with you all. Among the new arrivals, we’re especially delighted to introduce our little baby girl, Mandene Rock Candy at Jeninda, who we will affectionately call ‘Candy’. She’s a beautiful addition to our family, and we can already see she’s going to be a star. Mum is Bubbles and dad is Tux and we look forward to keeping you updated on their journey, and we’re so grateful for your continued support as we celebrate this exciting new chapter! Just born, a beautiful litter of 7 puppies Why ‘Rock Candy’? Well, that’s a sweet story.  We named her that for a few meaningful reasons. Her litter theme is ‘Rock’ to celebrate her pedigree, and since she’s a Welsh breed, we wanted to connect her name to something classic in Welsh culture. In Wales, classic sweets like rock candy are quite popular, so it seemed like the perfect fit. The name also matches her personality—friendly, playful, and full of energy. It’s a name that not only reflects her roots but also suits her sweet disposition. Candy has a way of bringing joy to everyone she meets, just like a treat brightens your day. And for her call name, we wanted something simple, memorable, and easy to say. She is a little bundle of joy in our lives and she’s truly our little sweet treat! Bubbles and Tux 🐾 😍 Meet the proud parents of this exceptional litter: Bubbles and Tux! Gorgeous mum Bubbles – Woodsden Champagne and Roses – is a beautiful black and white Cardigan Welsh Corgi with striking brindle points. She enjoys a peaceful life nestled in the serene Tasmanian hinterland, where she’s known for her gentle nature and stunning looks. Her strong family heritage is reflected in her own character and charm, making her not only a wonderful mother but also a treasured part of her family. Bubbles truly embodies the best qualities of her breed, with her lovely markings and calm, sweet demeanour adding to her unique appeal. Bubbles had an impressive show background and made a great impression, collecting an impressive 61 points toward her Australian Championship title. Although she narrowly missed the full title, Bubbles’ potential in the ring has always been evident, showcasing her quality pedigree and strong, balanced structure. Bubbles is sired by Mandene Double Espresso x Woodsden All That Sparkles. And then there’s Dad, Tux, officially known as CH Kalora Zees Easy On The Eyes, who achieved his Australian Championship status in 2023. His crowning moment came at the Tully and District Kennel Club, where he not only earned his championship title but also dazzled the judges by winning Best Puppy in Group at both shows. But Tux’s 2023 show season was just getting started. In his breakout year in North Queensland, Tux accumulated an astounding number of wins, including multiple Best of Breed wins, 11 Best Puppy in Group titles, Runner-Up Best in Group, 2 Best Puppy in Show, and 3 Best Junior in Group wins. His eye-catching presence, balanced structure, and confident personality make him a standout in every ring he enters. Tux’s lineage adds even more to his impressive résumé—his sire, Mandene Crest of Vargus, and dam, CH Kalora Starry Starry Night, are well-regarded within the breed for their quality and champion bloodlines. With Bubbles’ strong foundation and Tux’s winning pedigree, these two parents promise puppies with exceptional potential, both in conformation and character. This pairing brings together the best of both bloodlines, and we’re excited to see how these qualities come through in their litter. Tux is sired by Mandene Crest of Vargus x CH Kalora Starry Starry Night. Little baby Bubbles x Baby Tux, so handsome! Why Are We So Excited? At Jeninda Kennel, we are dedicated to improving the breed standard of Cardigan Welsh Corgis in Australia through strategic line breeding. Line breeding in Cardigan Welsh Corgis is a strategic approach used to strengthen desirable traits and improve breed standards over generations. Through this approach, we plan to strengthen the quality and consistency of our lines, by bringing in exceptional stock from two renowned kennels: Kalora and Mandene. These kennels have long been respected for producing Corgis that excel in both conformation and temperament, aligning with the breed standard. By incorporating bloodlines from Kalora and Mandene, we aim to reinforce desirable traits, such as the Cardigan’s distinctive long, low build, balanced structure and movement, and the intelligent, friendly personality that defines the breed. This collaboration allows us to preserve the best qualities of these established lines while enhancing our own breeding program. By selectively breeding Corgis that share a common, exceptional ancestor, kennels like Jeninda can reinforce specific qualities like conformation, temperament, and health, all critical to meeting and enhancing the breed standard. Line breeding also helps solidify temperament traits, aiming for a loyal, intelligent, and friendly personality that defines the breed. Moreover, line breeding supports health improvements. With careful tracking of genetic backgrounds, we can select dogs that complement each other and minimise hereditary health risks. This increases the likelihood of producing robust, healthy dogs with fewer issues like hip dysplasia or degenerative myelopathy, which can affect the breed. By thoughtfully implementing line breeding, Jeninda hopes to preserve and enhance the unique traits that make Cardigans so loved while contributing to the breed’s overall health, longevity, and adherence to the standard. This ultimately benefits future generations and upholds the breed’s legacy. Tux on show with Mandene founder Julene Brady.
